Job Summary
The Security Operations Center Specialist is part of a 24x7 security threat and data review that will receive and disseminate immediate threats to relevant management and employees. This position will assist in the development and dissemination of UPS responses to security directives. The individual will develop and help maintain appropriate internal and external contacts around the world. This position will develop communication agreements with law enforcement and government agencies.
The Security Operations Center Specialist assists the internal security web page for the field that provides a centralized reference of relevant internal and external security related contact information. He/she maintains comprehensive contact list of key internal and external (e.g., Transportation Security Administration, Department of State, FBI, etc.) contacts to ensure a thorough and consistent communication of security-related information. This position assists the management team in all areas of the UPS enterprise regarding security-related circumstances to communicate perceived threats to UPS.
Other Duties
- Manages database (i.e., Incident Reporting System) to determine proactive measures to be taken to address emerging threats.
- Provides assistance in the development and dissemination of UPS responses to security directives.
- Monitors database usage to ensure high levels of database performance.
- Develops communication agreements with law enforcement and government agencies.
- Assembles background information and facts about accidents and crises to ensure that UPS responds to information requests appropriately.
- Gathers and analyzes preliminary data for management team to help determine strategic direction for communications (e.g., reactive, proactive, limited or full disclosure, etc.) to maintain UPS’s positive public image during a crisis.
- Analyzes and creates technical written documents that summarize security intelligence.

- Demonstrates a general understanding of technology used by the company; communicates basic technological concepts and terminology; applies standard technology in daily work.
MINIMUM QUALIFIERS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Communications, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Business Administration, Political Science, Journalism, or History- Preferred
