UMC is currently seeking a Director of Community Life for our Bristol Glen Senior Care Community located in Newton, NJ. Bristol Glen, a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), is thoughtfully designed to provide person directed care in a home-like environment to ensure exceptional care and quality of life for our residents.

Requirements for a Director of Community Life:

  • Bachelors with major concentration in Rec, CATs or TR or direct work experience
  • Masters with a major concentration in Rec, CATs or TR or significant relative experience preferred
  • 5 years in a senior healthcare environment with supervisory responsibilities
  • Previous Director in HC environment preferred
  • Experience with culture change preferred
  • Completion of Activities education program approved by state preferred
  • Computer programs including MS Office and Outlook

Responsibilities for a Director of Community Life:

  • To organize, plan and direct community life to ensure that each person's needs and interests are met in a way that is purposeful and meaningful to the residents.

  • Plans, organizes and directs programming based on resident interest.

  • Supervise Community Life Associates in the implementation of all planned and scheduled programs.

  • Plans, prepares, and monitors Community Life budget.

  • Purchases supplies or equipment needed for the department.

  • Visits residents as needed.

  • Maintains and initiates relationships/ contact with agencies.

  • Maintains compliance with local, state, federal and community regulations and policies concerning the Community Life Programs.

  • Provides/ensures adaptive programs, techniques, equipment material.

  • Schedules staffing hours.

  • Facilitates monthly Resident Council and maintains minutes.

  • Ensure all assessments, documentation and calendars are completed timely.
