Overview


The Business Applications Manager is responsible for the strategic management, integration, and optimization of the company’s core business systems, including BuildOps, Sage Intacct, and Smartsheet.

This role ensures that applications function cohesively to support operations, finance, and leadership with accurate data origination and reporting. The manager leads a team, focusing on continuous improvement, integration management, and user enablement to drive organizational efficiency and insight.

Responsibilities


ERP & Application Management

  • Lead the integration of BuildOps and Sage Intacct, ensuring seamless data exchange across service, project, and financial workflows.
  • Manage and optimize the use of Smartsheet for project tracking, collaboration, and reporting across departments.
  • Oversee administration and user management for business applications.
  • Maintain data accuracy and consistency across all systems through structured governance and process alignment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define business requirements and translate them into scalable application solutions.
  • Develop automation and integration strategies to improve workflow efficiency and reduce manual data handling.


API Development & System Integration

  • Lead API builds and integrations between BuildOps and Sage Intacct to streamline financial, expense, and invoicing processes.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data flow issues between connected systems and manage APIs as needed.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all integration logic, endpoints, and data mappings.


Data Origination, Organization & Reporting

  • Oversee data origination processes, ensuring that operational and financial data are created and validated accurately at the source.
  • Establish and maintain data organization frameworks across applications for consistency and accessibility.
  • Design and implement dashboards, reports, and analytics using Smartsheet and Sage Intacct.
  • Develop standardized reporting templates and KPIs to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, accuracy standards, and internal reporting protocols.


Application Strategy & Governance

  • Create and manage a strategic roadmap for enterprise applications that aligns with company goals and growth.
  • Define and enforce standards for system configuration, user access, and data management.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools or system enhancements to increase efficiency.
  • Oversee software updates, upgrades, and testing to ensure business continuity and system reliability.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the liaison between business stakeholders, IT leadership, and external vendors.
  • Partner with finance, operations, and project teams to align systems with business workflows.
  • Lead system training and promote best practices to ensure user adoption and process compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 5 years of experience managing enterprise or business applications.
  • Direct experience with BuildOps and Sage Intacct integration.
  • Experience managing Smartsheet environments.
  • Proven success in API development and system integration for financial and operational platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data origination and reporting processes.
  • Industry experience in construction preferred.
  • Strong ERP and financial systems knowledge.
  • Proficiency in integration tools (APIs, JSON, middleware) and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Intacct Reports).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate business requirements into technical deliverables.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on process improvement and system optimization.
