Job Description for UMS Systems Administrator
Under the direct supervision of the VP of Operations Technology, Network Engineer and other internal UMS executives this position is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of all system-network hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system and network hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related components adhere to organizational values, policies and procedures. Assisting in projects in a team setting as well as individual which develop, maintain or upgrade current or new systems-networks.
Key Responsibilities for UMS IT Systems Support Specialist:
- Maintain and administer documentation of computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, system’s software, application’s software, phones, and all other configurations
- Achieve organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to UMS
- Research new technology and implement it or recommend its implementation
- Manage and maintain phone system functionality
- Manage and maintain all personnel’s personal PCs
- Provide support to all internal users
- Plan, coordinate and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software and hardware.
- Collaborate with vendors, service providers, and internal teams to resolve issues and implement projects.
- Design and oversee backup systems
- Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory polices
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies or upgrades to improve operational efficiencies
- Perform recovery testing
Requirements and Proficiencies for UMS Network Administrator
¨ Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in computer related field or equivalent work related experience.
¨ Proficiency in;
¨ Networking technologies and Topologies
¨ Hardware (HP/Cisco VLAN switches, cabling, Firewall, servers)
¨ VoIP (Grandstream)
¨ Virtual Machines
¨ Windows server
¨ End user support (software, hardware, mobile devices, backups, policies, and licensing)
¨ Open Source (Ubuntu, ProxMox, FreeNAS, PFSense)
¨ Web page
¨ Work with end users to develop solutions to meet business requirements.
¨ Good time management skills and ability to self-manage
¨ Ability to prioritize tasks
¨ Strong verbal and written communication skills
¨ Good attention to detail and problem solving skills
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
¨ Full time position M-F with hours of work being 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
¨ The IT Systems Support Specialist is expected to conduct him or herself in a professional and ethical manner both inside and outside of the work place.
