Position Overview
UMT is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented CNC Machine Operator with a minimum of three years of hands-on CNC machining experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating CNC mills and/or lathes, reading blueprints, using precision measuring equipment, and maintaining consistent production quality.
We are looking for someone who understands the importance of producing quality parts, meeting production expectations, and working together as a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines and/or CNC lathes to manufacture precision components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring equipment.
- Monitor machining operations to ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards.
- Make basic tooling and machine offset adjustments as needed.
- Identify machining problems, tooling issues, and potential quality concerns.
- Complete production documentation accurately, including job tracking and inspection records.
- Maintain production efficiency while minimizing scrap and rework.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Work closely with production leadership, quality control, and other team members to meet customer delivery requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on CNC machining experience.
- Experience operating CNC mills and/or CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand machining blueprints and dimensional tolerances.
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments.
- Basic understanding of CNC tooling, offsets, and machining processes.
- Ability to work independently while following established procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Dependable attendance, positive attitude, and willingness to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating Haas CNC equipment.
- Experience with CNC machine setups and tooling changes.
- Familiarity with G-code and basic CNC program adjustments.
- Experience machining aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and cast iron.
- Understanding of GD&T and ISO 9001 quality requirements.
- Ability to operate multiple CNC machines when production conditions allow.
