About the Job
Under general direction from the direction of the Human Resource Manager and Sr. Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for overseeing payroll administration and all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization’s payroll. This position also carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, onboarding, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.
What You Will Do (Including but not limited to):
- Provide Human Resources programs, processes, procedures and support for all company departments and personnel and external customers.
- Preparing and completing bi-weekly payroll to include ensuring that all employees are classified in their proper departments, process first of month payments and Sales commissions upon approval as needed and final review of time submission as necessary.
- Maintenance of Year-To-Date employee compensation reporting and verify accurate compensation and deductions information in HRIS system.
- Responsible in all aspects of the recruitment, selection and onboarding process for the company and acts as liaison with area employment agencies: process job requisitions, source talent, screen, coordinate with hiring managers for best recruiting process for positions, extend contingent job offers, process background checks, collect documentation, I-9 verification, conduct new hire orientations, enter in HRIS system, etc.
- Maintain employee related programs and coordinates and administers enrollments, changes, terminations and claims for various employee benefits programs, including but not limited to, group health, dental and vision, accident, FMLA, Worker’s Compensation, disability, life insurance, 401(k), COBRA, FSA and wellness benefits and process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
- Review and respond to claims such as Worker’s Compensation, Unemployment and employee leaves (Disability, FMLA, etc.) with appropriate documentation and/or third-party administrator. Follow up on claims as needed.
- Oversee maintenance of employee personnel and health/benefits files and ensures compliance with State, Federal, and Local requirements.
- Assists with the performance management and disciplinary actions process as assigned.
- Works with management to create and revise job descriptions as necessary.
- Responsible for conducting employment verifications and compiles and reports on statistical data as required from different external sources in compliance with State, Federal and local requirements.
- Perform any other duties as assigned in support of the company needs and operations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Human Resources or related field and a minimum of 4 years’ specialized payroll and HR experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced Excel), database systems, email and internet.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and have the necessary interpersonal skills to deal with individuals and groups of varying abilities.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and draw valid conclusions that show understanding and insight.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under critical time frames and work on multiple assignments and complex and sensitive information.
- Ability to be extremely flexible and adaptable in completing a diverse range of assignments in a timely manner.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to apply good work habits to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the agency.
- Ability to prioritize complex workload.
