Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for technical clarification of grinding projects using internal engineering resources and brand company support
- Prepares quotations and works with vendors to develop solutions for complex cylindrical grinding cells and manufacturing systems
- Develops technical proposals based on an understanding of grinding principles and customer requirements
- Performs inside sales functions for the preparation of turnkey projects and non-standard grinding machines
- Supports Regional Sales Managers with technical and commercial aspects of turnkey projects
- Demonstrates product capabilities using samples, technical materials, or catalogs while highlighting key features and benefits
- Calculates installation costs and evaluates potential production savings for customers
- Prepares quotations for appropriate machines and solutions based on RFQs for turnkey systems
- Maintains regular communication with customers throughout the quotation and proposal process
- Participates in trade shows and industry events as required
- Visits brand company facilities for product training, technical collaboration, and continued support of products in North America
Minimum Qualifications Including Education and Experience in Related Fields
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the machine tool industry supporting technical sales
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to customers and internal teams
- Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios, and cost calculations and apply them to practical business situations
Additional Preferred Qualifications Including Certificates, Training, Licenses, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline
- Five (5) or more years of direct experience in the machine tool industry
- Experience using 3D CAD software
- Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems
- Experience working with German or Swiss machine tool manufacturers, preferably in the grinding or metrology industry
Other (Supervisory Responsibilities, Physical Demands, Travel)
- Periodic domestic and international travel required (approximately 30–50%)
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but may supervise co-op students
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit and use hands to operate a computer and office equipment
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, or bend
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts when visiting manufacturing environments
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
