Role Description The Director of Individual Giving is a full-time, on-site role based in Mesa, AZ, responsible for leading and growing United Food Bank’s individual giving program. This role designs and executes strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors at all giving levels, including annual donors, mid-level contributors, and major gift prospects. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing a portfolio of donors, conducting regular donor outreach and meetings, preparing proposals and impact reports, and coordinating personalized stewardship activities and recognition. The Director will partner closely with the development, communications, and program teams to align donor engagement with organizational priorities and campaigns. Additional duties include tracking performance metrics, overseeing donor database accuracy for individual giving, supporting events and campaigns, and presenting progress and insights to organizational leadership and the Board as needed.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in individual philanthropy, with strong skills in Philanthropy and Fundraising to secure and grow charitable support.
- Proven success managing Annual Giving programs, including campaigns, appeals, and donor retention strategies.
- Experience with Planned Giving concepts, with the ability to identify, cultivate, and steward planned gift prospects in collaboration with advisors or external partners.
- Strong Prospect Research skills to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential donors and build effective cultivation strategies.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse donors and stakeholders.
- Experience using CRM or donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar) and strong data management skills.
- Proven ability to set goals, track metrics, manage budgets, and meet or exceed fundraising targets.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business, or similar) or equivalent experience; CFRE or related certification is a plus.
- Prior experience in hunger relief, human services, or community-based nonprofits is highly desirable, along with a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.
