- Develop comprehensive construction cost estimates by analyzing project plans, specifications, and bid documents using industry-standard software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
- Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services to establish accurate project budgets.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather competitive bids and negotiate terms that align with project goals.
- Prepare bid proposals that clearly outline scope, costs, schedules, and assumptions while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
- Utilize construction management tools to monitor cost control throughout project execution and identify potential budget risks early.
- Assist in contract negotiations by reviewing terms related to scope of work, pricing structures, and risk allocation.
- Support project management teams by providing detailed estimates that inform scheduling, resource planning, and procurement strategies.
- Maintain organized records of all estimating activities, bid submissions, and contractual documentation for future reference.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction estimating within commercial or heavy civil projects is essential.
- Strong proficiency with Bluebeam for digital plan review and markup is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with HeavyBid or similar estimating software is required for accurate bid development.
- Demonstrated ability in negotiation with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable pricing terms.
- Knowledge of construction site operations, safety standards, and project management principles enhances estimate accuracy.
- Familiarity with contracts, change orders, and cost control methodologies ensures comprehensive project oversight.
