An established metals recycling company in the Southwest is seeking an Outside Buyer to source, purchase, and maintain relationships with suppliers of scrap metal throughout the surrounding regions. This role focuses on driving inbound material flow by building strong partnerships with industrial accounts, demolition contractors, peddlers, and other suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new suppliers to secure steady flows of ferrous and non-ferrous materials
- Identify new purchasing opportunities through site visits, cold calls, and networking within the local scrap and construction industries
- Negotiate pricing and contracts consistent with market trends and company profitability goals
- Provide accurate grading, scale tickets, and settlement information to suppliers
- Monitor scrap market conditions and communicate relevant changes to management and suppliers
- Collaborate with operations and transportation teams to ensure efficient material handling and logistics
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier profiles, and CRM updates
- Represent Broadway Metal Recycling professionally in all customer and vendor interactions
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in scrap metal purchasing, brokerage, or related industrial sales
- Strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous grades, market pricing, and scrap flows
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in the field
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and CRM software preferred
