Custom Applicator / CDL Driver / Grain Operations

Position Summary: The CDL Driver/Agronomy & Grain Operations will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Agronomy & Grain location. Performs CDL driving and other functions that may include maintenance of equipment, plant, rolling stock, operation of forklifts, loaders, operation of tender trucks, filling NH3 tanks, loading customers’ vehicles with product, unloading of deliveries and other duties as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Unload, load and transfer grain and grain products including truck operations.
• Operate grain handling equipment including scales/moisture meter/dryers.
• Understand the proper operation of conveyance equipment that is utilized in the shipping, receiving, and transferring of grain and grain products and the associated safety systems of that equipment.
• Work with patrons in a courteous and professional manner.
• Perform warehouse work including driving loader, forklift, mechanics, and maintenance.
• Pick up and deliver product to customers as needed.
• Performs minor repairs and reports larger equipment problems to manager or mechanic.
• Coordinates application plans with facility, customers, and drivers to maximize efficiency.
• Reports any unsafe equipment or working conditions to management.
• Maintains a safe working area and keeps walkways clean of slip or trip hazards.
• Performs housekeeping activities as needed.
• Performs all other duties as assigned my management.
• Accepts and offers feedback and suggestions openly and respectfully.
• Maintains open communication with management and coworkers.
• Identifies and utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment while completing maintenance and repairs.
• Follow all legal regulations and guidelines to maintain a commercial driver’s license.
• Attend safety and job-related trainings as they become available.
• Represent yourself and United Cooperative professionally at all times in action and appearance – positively enriching the culture of United Cooperative.
• Promotes a customer-focused environment by providing friendly, courteous, and helpful service to coworkers and producers.
• Works extended hours as requested by supervisor to ensure customer needs are met during busy seasons.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Commercial Driver’s License (Class A)
• Must meet DOT and company requirements.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

• Must have the ability to lift/carry up to 75lbs.
• Employee is required to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
• Must have the ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
