CDL Driver

Position Summary:

United Cooperative has an exciting opportunity to become a valuable member of our team as a Class A CDL driver, also supporting the cooperative's grain division by completing the daily tasks as assigned by the Location Manager. As a driver, you would be responsible for the pickup and delivery of bulk grain and fertilizer between our suppliers, facilities, and direct to customers. Safely load and unload trucks for incoming and outgoing commodities. We strive to give the best customer service possible, which includes always looking professional and performing all duties in the safest way possible. This position allows you to be home every night.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Intrastate pickup and delivery of agricultural products.
• Perform pickups and deliveries in such a manner to maintain good customer relations.
• Follow all legal regulations and guidelines to maintain a Class A commercial driver's license.
• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections on the truck and trailer, informing supervisor of all needed maintenance and repairs.
• Always maintain equipment in top operational and clean appearances.
• Make recommendations for improvements in the facility or to equipment.
• Attend safety and job-related trainings as they become available.
• Stay on schedule and report delays to supervisor.
• Clean trailer between different products.
• Pick up products on farm and load truck off air gauges.
• Unload, load and transfer grain and grain products including truck operations.
• Operate skid loader and forklift on a regular basis and in a safe manner
• Operate grain handling equipment including scales/moisture meter/dryers.
• Monitor equipment to ensure it is in good working order, participate in the overall maintenance of the facility and equipment - notify management of any necessary repairs or possible equipment concerns.
• Understand the proper operation of conveyance equipment that is utilized in the shipping, receiving, and transferring of grain and grain products and the associated safety systems of that equipment.
• Housekeeping as related, but not limited to, the cleanliness and orderliness of the grain handling area (tunnels, concrete grounds, grass areas, etc.), as well as any areas within the plant as delegated by the Location Manager.
• Work safely within company policy, procedures, and governmental regulations and fully participate in company safety programs.
• Be an involved/engaged member of a team and be willing to act and think independently.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Location Manager.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of one year of verifiable experience operating a tractor-trailer combination and have a Class A CDL.
• Must possess a Fed Med card and keep it up to date while employed.
• Must be able to drive a manual shift semi-tractor/trailer.
• Tanker endorsement preferred.
• Electronic Logging Device (ELD) experience preferred.
• An excellent driving record and ability to demonstrate excellent attendance and reliability.
• Enjoy driving, pulling hopper bottom, liquid tanker, and van trailers.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in all indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs on occasion.
• Ability to operate and maneuver electric and manual pallet jacks.
• Ability to get in and out of a truck multiple times per day.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in dusty conditions at times.
• On road and off-road driving into fields for pickup and delivery.
