Summary

The UCM Ready-Mix Truck Driver is responsible for safely transporting and delivering concrete to job sites while maintaining product quality and adhering to strict safety standards. This role supports concrete operations by coordinating with dispatch, plant personnel, and field crews to ensure timely and efficient deliveries. The driver plays a critical role in project execution by operating ready-mix equipment, following job site protocols, and contributing to a smooth and organized pour process.

Locations: Candidates based in or near Macomb, Galesburg, Carthage, Quincy, or surrounding Western Illinois areas.

Position Overview

UCM is actively hiring Ready-Mix Truck Drivers to support concrete operations in the Macomb, Illinois area, including work on a large-scale wind farm project in McDonough County. Drivers will operate ready-mix concrete trucks (rotating drum trucks) to safely transport and deliver concrete to job sites while maintaining quality and efficiency.

This is a union position, and candidates will become union members upon hire.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a ready-mix concrete truck to and from job sites
• Deliver concrete while maintaining proper drum operation and product quality
• Follow all job site safety protocols and IDOT regulations
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, plant personnel, and job site teams
• Perform basic inspection and maintenance of assigned vehicle
• Adhere to tight delivery schedules and coordinate with multiple trucks on-site

Project Details

• Project: Camp Creek Wind Farm (McDonough County, IL)
• Scope: Concrete foundation pours for wind turbine bases

Qualifications

• Required: Valid CDL (Class B preferred)
• Ability to safely operate heavy equipment in a construction environment
• Strong attention to safety
• Reliable and punctual

Compensation & Benefits

• Wage: $24.50/hour
• Union benefits package includes pension, annuity, and health insurance (details provided upon hire)
• Opportunity to transition into a longer-term union role based on performance and workload

Additional Information

• Candidates do not need to be current union members to apply
• Upon hire, employees will enter a probationary period (up to 90 days) before transitioning to full union status
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check required
