Position Title: Long-Term Substitute Teacher Kindergarten (202526 School Year)

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the long-term substitute teacher will serve as a temporary replacement for a Kindergarten classroom teacher during an extended leave in the 202526 school year. The ideal candidate will support student learning and growth in both academic and interpersonal areas by delivering the district-approved curriculum, documenting student progress, meeting the educational needs of individual learners, and fostering a positive, safe, and flexible classroom environment. Regular communication with students, families, and administrators is essential to support student success during this transitional period.
Essential Functions
- Implements the district's elementary curriculum in alignment with school goals and learning objectives.
- Maintains a classroom environment that promotes safety, student engagement, and productive learning.
- Follows the teacher's lesson plans and uses instructional strategies to maximize instructional time and student outcomes.
- Differentiates instruction to support diverse learning styles and student needs, including those with special needs.
- Instills principles of citizenship, responsibility, and core academic skills as outlined by state and district guidelines.
- Participates in professional development and stays current with instructional best practices.
- Keeps accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress in accordance with district policies.
- Communicates regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, expectations, and classroom activities.
- Upholds school and district behavior standards and fosters a positive learning environment.
- Collaborates with other grade-level and school staff for curriculum alignment and student support.
- Manages classroom materials, equipment, and supplies, maintaining organization and inventory.
- Supervises students during classroom transitions, lunch, recess, and other school-day activities.
- Administers district-required assessments and tracks student performance accordingly.
Additional Duties
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
- Supports school activities and routines as appropriate during the assignment.
Equipment
- Uses standard classroom and office equipment including computers, interactive whiteboards, printers, copiers, and telephones.

- Understanding of current instructional practices and student learning differences.
- Familiarity with elementary-level curriculum and educational standards.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
- Valid Iowa Teaching License with Elementary Classroom Endorsement (K6).
- Substitute authorization with appropriate experience may be considered.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related field required.
Experience:
- Prior teaching experience in elementary grades strongly preferred.
