Position Title: Full-Time Custodial Worker – United Community School
Hours: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM (Preferred) / M-F / Year Round
Wage: $15.00/hour (or per district guidelines)

Reports To: Building and Grounds Keeper
Job Overview:
The Full-Time Custodial Worker plays a vital role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and community members. This position is responsible for the daily cleaning, maintenance, and general upkeep of the school building and surrounding grounds.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, offices, and other common areas daily
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors as needed
Empty trash and recycling bins and replenish supplies (e.g., soap, paper towels, toilet paper)
Perform light maintenance work such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, tightening loose fixtures
Report major maintenance needs to supervisors promptly
Maintain cleanliness and safety of outdoor areas including sidewalks, playgrounds, and entryways (e.g., snow removal, leaf blowing, trash pickup)
Set up and take down furniture and equipment for school activities, events, and meetings
Secure buildings by locking doors and windows, checking alarm systems, and responding to custodial emergencies
Monitor and maintain janitorial supply inventory
Follow all safety procedures and use proper equipment and materials for cleaning and maintenance
Work collaboratively with other custodians and school staff to maintain a positive and productive work environment
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks
Experience in custodial, maintenance, or facilities preferred but not required
Flexibility to work evenings or weekends, as needed
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and cleanliness
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must pass a criminal background check and any other district-required screenings
