What are the responsibilities and job description for the Conversion Crew Member position at United Center Joint Venture?

General Responsibilities:
The United Center is the home of the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bulls.  The UC also hosts many concerts and other special events. The Conversions team is responsible for converting the UC from one event to the next.  

Specific Duties:  (Other duties may be assigned.)
  • Assist in converting the arena from: Event to Event (concerts, ice shows, etc.) Basketball to Hockey (vice versa)
  • Maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
  • Scheduling flexibility. 
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

The individual may be required to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl for 1/3 to 2/3 of the day and walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms for 2/3 of the day.
The individual is required to lift 100 pounds for 2/3 or more of the day (needs to be able to lift at least 80 pounds).
Necessary vision capabilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth and focusing abilities.

The work environment contains a loud noise level.

·  Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one on one small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members in the organization.
 
·  Math Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  
Ability to complete rate, ratio and percentage to draw and interpret bar graphs.
 
·  Computer Skills:
The individual must have the ability to work with in-house computer programs.
The individual must have the ability to work with various computer software; including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel.
 
·  Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
 
Grooming:
Team member must comply with the appearance guidelines set by the United Center.   
The guidelines may be found in your copy of the Magic Book.    
 
Education:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.     
 
Experience:
General mechanical ability and knowledge.
Use of small hand tools.
See education.
 
Overall:
Team member must recognize and participate in the utilization of the various Recognition Programs.
Team member must assist in the planning and monitoring of departmental strategic goals.
