PCA worker

Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated PSS (Personal Support Specialist) / PCA (Personal Care Assistant) workers to provide high-quality care and support to individuals in various settings, including home, community, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. This role involves assisting clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient-centered care, excellent observation skills, and experience working with diverse populations such as seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or other health conditions. Prior experience in healthcare or caregiving environments is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans
• Support patients with meal preparation and feeding as needed
• Perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning to maintain a safe and sanitary environment
• Observe and document patient conditions, behaviors, and responses to treatments or interventions
• Utilize proper techniques for patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts
• Follow care plans meticulously and communicate any changes or concerns to supervising staff
• Maintain HIPAA compliance by safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times
• Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance quality of life for residents or clients
• Assist with specialized care needs such as Alzheimer’s/dementia care, memory care, hospice support, or working with individuals with autism or disabilities

Qualifications

• Prior experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, hospice care, or working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred
• Knowledge of patient observation, monitoring vital signs, medication administration, and HIPAA regulations
• Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable
• Experience working with residents who have dementia or Alzheimer’s is a plus
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and assist with transfers using appropriate equipment
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to improve the lives of others
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in healthcare or caregiving is advantageous

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.75 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 14.75 per week
