Clinical Allergy Specialist

Job Summary: A Clinical Allergy Specialist manages the day-to-day operations of the United Allergy Services allergy center, administering allergy tests, educating patients on allergen immunotherapy, administering processes, professionally interacting with providers and medical practice employees, and providing patient-centered care to the many allergy sufferers in the communities United Allergy serves. A Clinical Allergy Specialist performs clinical and administrative responsibilities in a medical provider’s office and works directly under the supervision of a physician. Responsibilities: Develops and maintains an understanding of allergens, the allergic response, the UAS clinical protocols and the features and benefits of immunotherapy. Responsible for safe and effective immunotherapy processes to include the administration of quality allergy testing, and the formulation and preparation of the allergy immunotherapy. Responsible for educating patients on administering injections with the Immunotherapy. Ensures patient progress by following up with the patient and ensuring Immunotherapy is picked up on a timely basis. Completes all appropriate paperwork and ensures insurance eligibility is verified for each patient. Administers patient scheduling either in person, via phone or through UAS centralized scheduling protocols. Responsible for the handling and submission of all billing documentation to the appropriate office via applicable EMR systems or otherwise. Responsible for the maintenance and security of clinic inventory levels. Ensures that inventory is ordered and received. Develops and maintains effective, professional relationships with providers and medical office staff. Escalates patient or other questions to appropriate team member or provider in a timely manner. Responsible for meeting the strategic goals and objectives of the clinic and company pertaining to assigned clinic productivity and revenue. Performs other related duties as required and assigned. Job Qualifications: A minimum of one year of full-time equivalent work experience in a healthcare or hospital setting. Nursing or other medical technician certification(s) as required by the state or local area regulations for the clinic area (unless otherwise required). Ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities and ensure suitable and complete results. Computer experience required.
