Position Summary

Ground Support Equipment Personnel (GSEP) will provide general shop support to the repair station. Responsible for all ground support equipment and their maintenance upkeep. The Ground Support Equipment Personnel will work with the parts department and assist in the recovery and delivery of parts as needed to / from vendors. The GSEP will support shop maintenance within the repair station and be responsible for the general upkeep of the aircraft hangars and aircraft parking. GSEP assist during EPA, Fire Department, and Wastewater Agency audits. Ground Support Equipment Personnel may be asked to perform other duties as required.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and repair equipment to include aircraft jacks, engine lifts and supports, ground power units, engines, motors, pneumatic equipment, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Assist Parts Department personnel in receiving and delivering parts, this may include picking up parts from local vendors.
  • Handle Hazard Waste removal and working with vendors to collect waste.
  • Upkeep of back-shop equipment, wash tanks, bead blasting machine, and shop air compressor.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Experience

Average or better mechanical aptitude (Required).

Previous experience in ground support equipment, fabrication and welding (preferred)

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Be fluent in English

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Behaviors

Must have and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license, plus must successfully complete required training and testing to obtain a Fuel Handlers Card issued by the City of Phoenix.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Physical demands consist of strenuous positions required to reach desired areas needing to be repaired. Ability to stand throughout longs periods of times while using a wide variety of heavy tools needed to fix aircraft parts. Ability to lift aircraft tools, parts, and equipment varying from 10lbs – 70lbs or ability to use tools that can lift more when needed. Work environment consists of a large maintenance hangar that can become consistent with outside temperatures. Aircraft maintenance hangar may also experience loud noises consistently throughout the day. Ability to work in a confined area for an extended period of time. Ability to wear personal protective gear. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the duties.
