Key Responsibilities:
The Manager, Pilot Hiring Programs leads a team of Pilot and Flight Operations Recruiters and is responsible for leading our United Airlines’ Pilot and local Flight Ops Recruitment processes to promote a world class candidate experience. The position is responsible for developing, leading, managing, and implementing robust recruiting strategies for our Pilot and Flight Operations teams. Individual must collaborate regularly with Flight Operations & HR on process, strategies, status updates and feedback of all candidates and focus on development of the team.
- Provide leadership and manage recruitment team responsible for pilot hiring processes
- Partner in design and support of standard processes for pilot recruiting and hiring
- Coordinate and attend recruitment job fairs, school and/or community-based recruitment events or other internally and/or externally focused efforts
- Sourcing and recruitment activities may include collaboration with industry peers; design, development, and execution of programs to attract candidates; creation of internal and/or external job posting; creation and management of data analytics and tracking systems; website and social media advertising
- Assess candidates to determine qualifications, interview prospective candidates which includes in-person interviews and/or administering pre-placement testing
- Assist with design and development of recruiting tools to drive efficiency, improve equity, and provide an industry leading applicant/participant experience
- Coordinate and attend recruitment job fairs, school and/or community-based recruitment events or other externally focused efforts
- Maintain complete and accurate staffing documentation as required by law
- Create and manage recruiting and diversity analytics in partnership with People Analytics and Flight Operations
- Provide subject matter expertise in specific staffing and HR projects
- Partner with business clients to ensure effective workforce planning and fulfillment of requisitions
- Ability to travel as needed
The salary for this position is $89,020 to $130,570, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education and skills. This range is based on a full-time schedule.

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant experience
- 5 or more years HR experience, with at least 3 years of dedicated recruiting experience
- Experience in workforce development programs and campus recruiting
- Experience in developing and implementing diversity and inclusion recruiting strategies
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, highly team-oriented environment
- Ownership mentality and proven ability to create and execute critical initiatives
- Experience with tracking and data analytics and building robust presentations
- Ability to handle multiple priorities with a high degree of accuracy and ability to delegate work as needed
- Comprehensive knowledge of staffing and recruiting program administration and ability to recruit hard-to-fill positions utilizing various sourcing methods
- Ability to work on special projects, in addition to typical recruiting workload
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- On site leadership of interviews
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- PHR, SPHR or GPHR (Professional, Senior Professional or Global Professional in Human Resources certification)
- Certification as a behavioral based interviewer
- Experience using Taleo or other applicant tracking systems (i.e., iCIMS)
- Experience using HRIS platforms (i.e., PeopleSoft and COMPAS)
- In depth understanding of barriers to entry to the pilot profession for women and racial/ethnic minorities
- Solid knowledge of social media and demonstrated usage of tools such as LinkedIn
