Job Title: Group Leader
Schedule: Approx. 20-25 hrs pr week **Between the hours of 2pm and 6pm - Monday through Friday - 5 days per week**
Job Type: Part Time/Non-Exempt/Hourly
Pay Rate Range: $17.50 - $19 per hour
JOB DESCRIPTION: United Activities Unlimited, Inc. (UAU) is a Staten Island-based community organization providing youth development, education, and community support services. The Group Leader supports COMPASS, SONYC, Beacon, and Cornerstone programs by supervising classroom-based afterschool activities for youth ages 5 to 13. This role focuses on creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic growth while supporting program staff with daily operations and activity implementation.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience working directly with children ages 5 to 13
- At least one year of experience in a classroom, daycare, or school-based setting
- Commitment to working from a strength-based perspective
- Cultural competence and the ability to effectively engage diverse populations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to take initiative and demonstrate flexibility
- Must pass required reference checks and background clearances as required by DOH, DOE, DYCD, and UAU
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors based on program needs and weather conditions
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
- May require prolonged standing and walking during program hours
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for portions of the day
- Ability to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information
- Ability to observe details at close range
