United Academy of Music and Arts is seeking a professional and highly qualified Piano Teacher with a classical music background to provide engaging, expert-level instruction. The teacher will be responsible for developing students of all ages and skill levels, with a particular focus on preparing serious-minded students for ABRSM and RCM examinations, as well as local and international piano competitions. Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver personalized, one-on-one piano lessons that cater to students' unique needs, abilities, and goals.
- Structure lesson plans to include a balanced and challenging curriculum focused on classical repertoire, technical exercises, and musicianship.
- Prepare students for all levels of the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) and RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) practical and theory examinations. This includes:
- Thorough coaching on repertoire, scales, sight-reading, and aural skills.
- In-depth preparation for music theory exams.
- Guidance on stage presence, performance anxiety, and interpretative depth.
- Simulated performance opportunities and mock adjudications.
- Instruct students on advanced piano techniques to develop dexterity, tone, control, and hand independence. Introduce technical exercises.
- Cultivate students' musicality by exploring phrasing, dynamics, historical context, and the emotional expression of musical pieces.
- Ensure students have a robust understanding of music theory, including extended harmonies, counterpoint, and form analysis, as well as the historical context of their repertoire.
- Maintain open and consistent communication with students and parents regarding progress, goals, and practice strategies.
- Organize and prepare students for seasonal recitals, concerts, and other performance opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Performance, Piano Pedagogy, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience teaching piano to students of various ages and skill levels, with demonstrated success in preparing students for high-level exams and competitions.
- Official ABRSM or RCM certification is an asset, with a strong understanding of both examination systems across all levels.
- Exceptional piano skills and a deep knowledge of classical piano repertoire are essential.
- A strong command of teaching methodologies, patience, and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students and parents.
- Dependable, punctual, and highly organized with the ability to manage administrative duties and scheduling.
