What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Technician position at Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder?
The Building Maintenance Technician (10-20 hours per week, on site) supports the mission of UUCB by caring for the building and grounds of the church. This may involve, but is not limited to, routine maintenance tasks, preventative maintenance scheduling and testing, sourcing, vetting, and contracting trusted vendors for professional services, responding to urgent maintenance calls, risk assessment and mitigation of potential safety hazards, and identifying opportunities for building improvement.
The BMT will serve as the primary maintenance point of contact, not only for the UUCB staff team, but also for long & short term renters as well as congregants. Therefore, having an approachable, customer service attitude and demeanor will be vital in ensuring effective communication and healthy relationships both within our church community and our local Boulder community.
Pragmatism and independence are highly valuable in this role! The building is 63 years old. It has been well loved and well used over the years and has developed plenty of quirks in its personality (both expected and unexpected!). The intention is to expand and renovate certain sections of the building within the next 12-18 months. While the BMT will not be directly responsible for this, they will be expected to become the subject matter expert and primary caretaker of this new space post-construction.
