Position Summary:
This position provides direct services to clients with major mental illness. and a substance abuse diagnosis. These services are provided to assist in resolving or minimizing the effects of a client's impairment through a wide range of skills, including assessment, monitoring, crisis intervention, education, linking and training in community resources, assistance in daily living. skills, and obtaining necessary services for meeting basic human needs and entitlements. This position participates in a treatment team.
Key Responsibilities & Role Highlights:
- Lead trainer for all unlicensed new hires in department (RS and SUD clinician roles)
- Lead trainer for existing staff and departmental changes within organizations SUD department (RS and SUD clinician roles)
- Responsible for ordering/managing groceries for recovery houses.
- Responsible for monitoring and compliance of UA screen results
- Monitor/tracking of residents’ meeting attendance weekly.
- Lead coordinator regarding electronic monitoring, methadone dosing centers, additional outside agencies tracking, as needed.
- Priority option of filling shift gaps for medication passing.
- Provides direct mental health services as appropriate per licensure and SUD services to clients in accordance with the State mandates and established Agency and program policies, procedures, philosophy and the Individualized Service Plan.
- Documents client/program activities according to Agency/Program policies and procedures.
- Participates in Team Meetings, supervision, in-service training, and conferences according to established agency policies and procedures, OMHAS requirements and rules to upgrade personal knowledge, improve teamwork and service coordination.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Requires high school diploma. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Must possess a minimum of six months working with individuals with mental illness and a substance abuse problem.
- Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) required.
- LSW or LPC preferred.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include alternate shifts, weekends, late nights, and holidays to meet program needs.
- Must demonstrate individual and group therapeutic skills, knowledge of mental illness and substance abuse.
- Must demonstrate the ability to define problems, analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make recommendations.
- Must demonstrate personal integrity, the ability to develop and work as part of a team, and a commitment to the mission of the agency.
- Must establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be able to work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset and at times hostile individuals.
