What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Controls Engineer position at UNISIG?

This position will have a key role in developing and testing both software and hardware solutions for a variety of machine tool and automation projects. The working environment is fast-paced and professional. Highly skilled individuals are recognized for their contributions and will gain valuable experience while working with advanced technology.
Experience with the following will be considered relevant to the position:
PLC and HMI programming – Siemens, Beckhoff, Rockwell
CNC programming – Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain
Robot programming and commissioning – Fanuc, ABB
Servo motion control with single and multiple coordinated axes
Variable speed drive setup and tuning
Fluid power systems – hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and cutting fluid
Industrial networking – Profibus, Ethernet, etc.
Industrial control system standards such as NFPA 79, IEC, and CSA
SolidWorks Electrical / Solidworks 3D / AutoCAD Electrical
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Work with engineers and customers to determine the requirements of the machine and develop specifications for machine functions, user interface, and quality control for high reliability
•Develop new software and hardware designs to meet machine requirements
•Research components and technology available from suppliers, determine ways to increase the reliability of controls, and reduce costs
•Understand and implement customer standards for dedicated equipment and participate in design reviews
•Guide the startup of machines and perform troubleshooting with mechanical and electrical technicians
•Configure drives, network communications, and other intelligent machine devices
•Calibrate machines for position accuracy and dynamic response
•Assist with remote customer support and troubleshooting
•Update documentation and prepare portions of machine operation and service manuals
•Minimal travel (approximately 10%) for project engineering or customer support issues
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
•Associates degree in electrical engineering, electrical technology, mechanical engineering or related discipline plus 3-5 years’ experience or equivalent combination.
•Organized thought process with a very high attention to detail, desire to maintain high standards of workmanship, resourceful, well organized and highly dependable

•Occasionally stands and moves throughout shop
•Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, reaches and carries
