UniSea is looking for a IT Security/Windows Administrator to join our IT team in Redmond, WA! UniSea has an opening in our IT Department for someone with a passion for IT Security that has a strong background in general Windows Administration duties and troubleshooting.
Our IT Security/Windows Administrator is responsible for providing technical support, diagnose, and resolve security problems within the UniSea information systems enterprise to protect from cyber-attacks. Work closely with IT team to design, implement, document, and maintain operations of all IT security and automation systems and act as Security and Automation tools Subject Matter Expert (SME).
Duties include occasionally working after hours and/or weekends and participating in on-call rotation as needed. This position is based out of our Redmond, Washington Corporate location and requires 25% travel to Dutch Harbor Alaska to support our seasonal production facilities.
Essential Duties
- Administer, support, and monitor our Azure AD environment regarding Conditional Access, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Intune, Duo and other security related tools. Administer and maintain Windows Server environments including Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, Defender, SIEM, and DNS services.
- Act as primary administrator for Endpoint Detection Response (EDR) platforms CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender, SEIM, and Senteniel1. Responsible for maintaining and supporting the platforms and monitoring daily activity.
- Develop professional working relationships with contracted outside partners, to support and improve security for EDR platforms and other security systems.
- Responsible for daily administration, monitoring and support for Endpoint Automation platform using Intune and SCCM/MECM.
- Implement and maintain Active Directory hardening solutions in response to the rapidly evolving threat landscape.
- Create and implement Organization-Wide Security Protocols. Maintain knowledge of current security protocols and make updates, as necessary.
- Review ongoing vendor security updates to prioritize and plan deployments based on industry best practices.
- Investigate, document, and resolve all security breaches. Responsible for notifying the IT Director in a timely manner of active and attempted breaches.
- Serve as technical contact for both Redmond and Dutch Harbor locations. Help maintain and monitor enterprise systems availability and security.
- Actively look for security vulnerabilities within the UniSea IT infrastructure with the appropriate tools and document the findings. Research and apply fixes to the known vulnerabilities or make recommendations to the IT Director for necessary improvements.
- Respond promptly to issues. Research and document solutions for problems solved. Help create and maintain FAQ bulletins within the Company. Set appropriate expectations for complex issues and maintain effective communication.
- As Security and Automation Tools SME, provide guidance to the IT team regarding the security impacts of various projects and programs within the IT department. Collaborate with members of the IT team on special projects and escalated problem solving.

Required education, skills and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent education and experience.
- Security or equivalent certification is required.
- At least 4 years of experience in administering Microsoft Desktop and Microsoft Server operating systems, Windows system networking, Microsoft Exchange server and Active Directory.
- At least 2 years of experience working in IT Security and using Azure AD security tools, CrowdStrike, Windows Defender and Senteniel1.
- Must have expertise working with and troubleshooting:
- Windows and Linux based operating systems, hardware, and software
- Active Directory
- DNS, DHCP, and network infrastructure
- Virtualization software (Hyper-V and VMWare)
- Backups and recovery solutions
- PowerShell scripting
- Must have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to quickly analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
- Must be able to effectively communicate between technical and non-technical users.
- Must be able to travel as needed to Dutch Harbor, Alaska for up to several weeks at a time.
This is a salaried Exempt position and is not eligible for overtime pay. The starting wage range is from $94,395 - $113,290 per year.
