Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications and injections safely, including IV infusions, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations and sterile techniques.
- Assist with complex procedures such as catheterization, wound suturing, tube feeding, and ventilator management in various settings like ICU or emergency rooms.
- Provide specialized care for patients with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, memory care needs, or developmental disabilities, ensuring tailored support that promotes dignity and independence.
- Support acute pain management strategies and participate in discharge planning for post-acute or outpatient care scenarios.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in settings like Level I trauma centers or pediatric units to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Document all nursing activities accurately in medical records, including ICD coding for diagnoses and CPT coding for procedures when applicable.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current certification to practice in your jurisdiction.
- Proven experience working in critical care environments such as ICU, emergency room, or trauma centers; experience with Level II or Level I trauma center standards is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques including vital signs monitoring and specimen collection/processing such as phlebotomy or laboratory specimen handling.
- Ability to perform IV insertion and catheter care proficiently while maintaining aseptic technique.
- Experience caring for diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal ventilator management, or home & community care environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and HIPAA compliance to ensure patient safety and confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients on health coaching topics like nutrition or medication administration; capable of working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs.
