Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Machine Shop Hand to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will assist with various machining and fabrication tasks, ensuring precision and quality in all operations. Your hands-on expertise will support the setup, operation, and maintenance of a variety of machine tools and equipment, contributing to the efficient production of high-quality components. Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC machines such as CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and CNC programming tools to produce precise parts.
- Support the use of manual machining equipment including press brake machines, stamping presses, fabrication tools, and welding apparatus to shape and assemble components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and CAD designs to ensure accurate manufacturing processes.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other quality control tools to verify dimensions and maintain strict tolerances.
- Handle materials safely using forklifts and other materials handling equipment while adhering to safety protocols within the manufacturing facility.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop floor, ensuring all hand tools, tooling, and machinery are properly maintained and calibrated for optimal performance.
- Support assembly line operations by assisting with fabrication, packaging, or final product inspection as needed.
Qualifications
- Prior factory or manufacturing experience is highly preferred; familiarity with a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Basic mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience operating or supporting CNC machines such as CNC milling machines or CNC lathes.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding technical drawings; experience with GD&T is advantageous.
- Knowledge of CAD software like SolidWorks or similar design programs is desirable.
- Ability to use hand tools effectively including calipers, micrometers, welding equipment, and fabrication tools.
- Experience with materials handling equipment such as forklifts; certification is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail with good math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining processes.
