Position Summary
The Center Director / Lead Instructional Teacher is a hands-on, classroom-based instructional leader responsible for ensuring high-quality teaching, curriculum fidelity, staff coaching, and regulatory compliance across all classrooms at Unique Little Hands II.
This role serves as the Lead Teacher expert, actively modeling best practices, coaching teaching staff, and ensuring full implementation and compliance of the Streamin3 curriculum. The Director maintains an active classroom presence, supports behavior guidance, ensures health and safety compliance (including MAT and ServSafe standards), and promotes a nurturing, structured, developmentally appropriate learning environment for all children.
Primary Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership & Classroom Presence
- Serve as the Lead Teacher expert and instructional model for all classrooms
- Actively engage in classrooms daily, including teaching, modeling, and coverage
- Demonstrate best practices in lesson delivery, classroom management, and child engagement
- Support implementation of developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed practices
- Assist teachers with behavior guidance strategies and individualized child supports
Staff Coaching, Training & Professional Development
- Coach, mentor, and train all teaching staff
- Conduct classroom observations and provide real-time feedback
- Lead lesson planning support sessions and instructional check-ins
- Train new hires and provide ongoing professional development
- Address instructional gaps through corrective coaching and retraining
Curriculum Oversight & Streamin3 Compliance
- Serve as the internal Streamin3 curriculum expert
- Train all teaching staff on Streamin3 expectations and implementation
- Monitor lesson plans, classroom materials, and documentation
- Ensure curriculum fidelity across all classrooms
- Maintain documentation for curriculum audits, licensing, and quality reviews
Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Virginia DSS childcare licensing regulations
- Maintain MAT (Medication Administration Training) compliance
- Ensure food handling and sanitation practices meet ServSafe standards
- Monitor classroom safety, sanitation, and supervision at all times
- Oversee incident reporting, emergency preparedness, and child protection protocols
Center Operations & Family Engagement
- Ensure proper staff-to-child ratios at all times
- Maintain accurate classroom, child, and staff documentation
- Serve as a support resource for families regarding classroom concerns
- Support family engagement events and educational workshops
- Assist with licensing inspections and monitoring visits
Required Qualifications
- Meets Virginia DSS licensing requirements for Child Care Center Director
- Child Development Associates (CDA) Certification in or Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years classroom teaching experience
- Minimum 2 years in Lead Teacher or supervisory role
- Streamin3 curriculum experience or trainable
- MAT Certified
- ServSafe Certified (or ability to obtain within the 60 days)
