Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. This role is responsible for providing high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or dementia. The successful candidate will be a vital member of our care team, assisting individuals with daily living tasks and promoting their overall health and well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to residents with developmental disabilities and/or dementia, ensuring their needs are met and their dignity is respected.
- Assist with daily living tasks, including personal care, meal preparation, bathing, and medication management.
- Monitor and report any changes in the residents' conditions or behavior, ensuring prompt intervention and care.
- Support residents in maintaining their independence and engaging in activities that promote their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
- Assist with memory care activities and dementia-specific interventions to enhance the quality of life for residents with cognitive impairments.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, family members, and caregivers to ensure a comprehensive approach to care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in patient care and dementia care.
- Taking the individual out in the community
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or dementia.
- Certification in CPR and patient care is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents, family members, and colleagues.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, lifting, and bending.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and support.
