Duties
- Manage the entire parts inventory, including ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize downtime
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms that benefit the dealership’s operations
- Oversee procurement processes using ERP systems and order management platforms to streamline purchasing activities
- Coordinate with automotive service teams to fulfill parts requests promptly while maintaining accurate data entry and inventory records
- Implement warehouse management best practices, including shipping & receiving procedures, forklift operation, and equipment repair oversight
- Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) tools for tracking maintenance schedules and parts usage for equipment repairs
- Conduct demand planning and demand forecasting to anticipate future needs based on sales trends, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications, and dealership requirements
- Monitor pricing strategies and negotiate deals with suppliers to ensure competitive costs while maintaining quality standards
- Lead efforts in sourcing hard-to-find or specialized parts such as auto body repair components or HVAC systems for various vehicle models
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to warehouse experience, shipping & receiving protocols, and equipment handling
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of supply chain management principles within an automotive or manufacturing setting
- Proven experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts effectively
- Strong understanding of automotive diagnostics, repair processes, and OEM parts specifications
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms like AS400 or similar software
- Familiarity with inventory management techniques including inventory control, demand planning, and procurement management
- Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of automotive service equipment repair and auto body repair processes
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification preferred
- Skilled in data entry, order management system utilization, and logistics coordination
- Excellent customer service skills to support internal teams and external clients effectively
- Experience with shipping & receiving procedures, sourcing strategies, and procurement best practices
- Strong negotiation skills combined with analytical thinking for pricing strategies and sourcing options
