Job Summary

The Yard Attendant is responsible for ensuring the organization, cleanliness, and safe operation of the service lot and surrounding areas. This role plays a critical part in supporting the service department by moving and staging trailers, maintaining lot and wash bay conditions, and assisting with routine operational needs. The Yard Attendant works closely with the Service Manager and Assistant Service Manager to maintain efficiency, safety, and readiness across the facility. *Safety bonuses are available immediately.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Move trailers in and out of the service shop.
• Hook up to and park trailers dropped off by customers and transport drivers.
• Stage trailers for pickup in an organized and accessible manner.
• Install and remove tags, stickers, and king pin locks on trailers as needed.
• Assist the Assistant Service Manager with pulling or locating trailers as requested.
• Ensure all equipment is secure and accounted for at the end of each day.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the lot, wash bay, and surrounding areas.
• Wash and clean trailers, both interior and exterior, to company standards.
• Operate tractor with box blade to re-surface and level lot as needed.
• Mow fields and perform basic grounds maintenance when directed.
• Notify the Assistant Service Manager when dumpsters are full.
• Notify the Service Manager when diesel fuel tanks, truck wash supplies, or related consumables are low.
• Lock and unlock gates at the beginning and end of each day.
• Follow all company safety protocols and immediately report hazards or incidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the service department.
  
  

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
• Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, trucking, or service environment preferred.
• Experience operating tractors, forklifts, or other yard equipment a plus.
  
  

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong organizational and time management skills to keep the lot orderly.
• Ability to safely maneuver and park trailers of varying sizes.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with trailers and related equipment.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with service leadership and team members.
• Reliability and accountability in following instructions and completing assigned tasks.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely operate trucks, tractors, and other yard equipment.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly and heavier items with assistance.
• Must work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.).
• Manual dexterity to handle tools, equipment, and trailer components.
