About the Role:
Director - Business Development
Our Director - Business Development will be responsible for creating and implementing a strategic growth plan for the company. This includes developing a comprehensive contract logistics and warehousing market plan, sales plan, client relationship program and ongoing metrics to monitor success.

Key elements of the role include the following:
- Accountable for the delivery of growth targets in line with the Corporate Plan
- Create, maintain, and continually develop a strategy that defines which customers, which sectors, which services we will target to expand our business
- Identify and research business development opportunities for new clients, prioritizing actionable leads and conducting early-stage outreach
- Implement strategic marketing plans to build company branding and attract new clientele
- Develop and maintain a sales pipeline for contract logistics, warehousing, and distribution by growing, maintaining and leveraging network, engaging with key stakeholders and decision-makers of prospective clients
- Foster relationships with new clients to understand their needs and offer solutions grow strategic partnerships
- Own and lead the sales lifecycle from prospecting to implementation
- Plan, prepare and deliver pitches and presentations to potential new clients
- Work with the Senior Leadership team to identify and manage company risks that might hinder growth
- Lead and guide a winning RFP response process
- Translate bid proposals into ready-to-sign contracts
- Work collaboratively with the global business development team and Vice President of Business Development
- Develop sales and marketing metrics to monitor progress towards strategic goals. This includes creating a target list that aligns with growth strategy, pipeline development and personal/team goals in business development and closing business.
- Facilitate shared communication with all departments of the company regarding customer requests, procedural updates, contract negotiations, pricing proposals, personnel changes, operational issues, and opportunities.

- Ability to travel, both domestic and international, frequently for attendance at industry events, networking, and client meetings (approximately 70% travel)
Pay and Benefits:
We are eager to attract the best, so we offer competitive base compensation - $140-165K depending upon experience with an attractive commission plan worth $50 to $200K - and a generous benefits package, including full health insurance (medical, dental and vision), 401(k) with company match, company paid life insurance, and both short term and long-term disability benefits.
About You:
Finally, we obviously have some key requirements in terms of what we are looking for. Ideally you will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience – but if you do not tick all the boxes then we’d still like to hear from you if you think you can clearly demonstrate your ability to excel in the role we have on offer.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Deep understanding of 3PL contracts, complex commercial agreements, and pricing/solutions
- Strong 3PL/Contract Logistics leadership experience; including ability to develop and implement strategic growth plan.
- 3PL marketing experience through strong understanding of competitive marketplace and industry trends.
- Experience in the development of proposals, presentations, and has the ability to understand and communicate the customer requirements at all levels.
- Proven record of persistently working successfully in the implementation of customer solutions with operations and managing complex projects which require resources outside direct responsibility.
- A general management orientation with understanding of P&L including the "big picture" while paying attention to the details.
- Experienced leader in Business Development or sales with a proven track record in winning large, complex 3PL contracts
- Deep market understanding and the ability to develop relationships at all levels
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Excellent leadership and teamwork skills
- Advanced presentation and persuasive skills, ability to influence at all levels
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Strong 3PL commercial & financial acumen
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service

- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
