What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Harvest Help Wanted: Elevator Operators & Scale/Probe Operators position at Uniontown Cooperative Association?
Uniontown Cooperative Association (UCA) is seeking reliable, hard-working candidates to join our team for the upcoming harvest season. We are a locally owned agricultural cooperative handling soft white wheat, hard red winter wheat, garbanzo beans, peas, lentils, canola, and barley.
We are hiring for two distinct seasonal roles across our main Uniontown facility and our satellite location in Leon, WA (just 15 minutes from Moscow, Pullman, Lewiston, and Clarkston). No prior experience is necessary; comprehensive in-house safety and operational training will be provided. An agricultural or mechanical background is preferred but not required.
Available Roles (Candidates may be cross-trained or assigned based on aptitude):
1. Elevator Operator
- Duties: Directing and dumping grain trucks, operating grain legs and conveyors, sweeping and maintaining housekeeping standards to manage dust, and assisting with ground pile management.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to work outdoors in high heat and dusty environments. Must have the physical ability to safely climb ladders exceeding 100 feet, lift up to 60 lbs, and stand for extended periods.
2. Scale & Probe Operator
- Duties: Operating the truck scale, greeting drivers, utilizing mechanical probes to take accurate grain samples, performing basic grading and testing of commodities, and basic data entry. Pace and accuracy are paramount in this position.
- Physical Requirements: Must be detail-oriented, comfortable with basic computer operation, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment while standing/sitting.
Schedule & Hours:
- Typical Harvest Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday through Saturday; 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sundays.
- Shifts: 12-hour shifts. Open availability required during peak harvest.
Requirements for All Applicants:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be willing to comply with all WISHA/OSHA safety standards, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as dust masks/respirators, hearing protection, and hard hats.
- Must have reliable transportation to both the Uniontown and Leon, WA locations.

Pay: $17.25 - $22.00 per hour
