Grocery & Deli Team Member (DC) About Union Kitchen: Union Kitchen is a neighborhood deli and grocery supporting local food businesses. We provide a space where customers can discover and enjoy a variety of locally made products, from fresh sandwiches and coffee to snacks and pantry staples. Since opening in 2012, we’ve partnered with over 650 food businesses, including DC favorites like Compass Coffee, Snacklins, and Veggie*Confetti. By showcasing and supporting local food makers, we help build vibrant communities, create jobs, and foster pride in our home. About the role We are a grocery store, coffee shop, and deli, that showcases locally made products alongside nationally recognized brands. Our stores are where many local food products meet the DC community for the first time. As a Team Member, you will be responsible for: Getting to know our wonderful customers Learning about and selling our local food products and menu items, with special focus on our products working through our food business Accelerator Crafting specialty beverages Making sandwiches, salads, snacks, and prepping food service items Maintaining product sections and stocking grocery shelves Ensuring all areas are clean and organized according to company standards You will excel in this role if you: Enjoy a fast-paced work environment that's centered around customer satisfaction Are passionate about local food, the business of food, and building community Can effectively communicate and build relationships with customers and team members of all backgrounds Love challenging yourself to learn new skills Value punctuality, and appreciate when everyone on the team shows up for each other Have the ability to lift, push/pull, carry and/or move up to 30 pounds Can climb ladders, stairs, ramps and uneven floor and/or surfaces. Can squat, bend, twist and reach for items below waist level or above shoulders Can use your hands to reach, grip, turn and perform precision work. You’re using your hands to do things like operate espresso machines, perform basic knife work, and operate the register The pay range for this role is: 18 - 21 USD per hour (District of Columbia)
