Position SummaryThe Nurse Manager provides strategic and clinical leadership across multiple outpatient clinic locations and clinical specialties. The Nurse Manager is a key operational and clinical leader responsible for managing the nursing and clinical support teams across all outpatient clinics. This role ensures standardized workflows, supports regulatory readiness, develops high-performing care team capabilities, and leads strategic initiatives to improve care delivery and operational efficiency. The Nurse Manager works in partnership with the senior leadership team, physicians, and clinic supervisors to deliver safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities 1. Clinical OperationsDevelop and implement standardized clinical workflows to streamline patient throughput and ensure consistency in patient care, nursing responsibilities, and rooming protocolsStandardize procedures for vital sign collection, medication & vaccine administration, procedural workflows, in-clinic testing, room turnover, patient triage, and pre/post visit planning, etc.Support and implement pharmacy processes for management of clinic medications, pharmaceutical samples, patient assistance medications, and floor stock medicationsDevelop, maintain, and revise nursing competency checklists, protocols, and onboarding materialsAs appropriate, lead daily huddles and weekly clinic flow reviews to identify bottlenecks and implement real-time solutionsTravel to and manage staff at multiple clinic locationsProvide hands-on support to clinical staff team when necessaryEstablish and coordinate clinic emergency response plan2. Workflow Optimization & Process ImprovementConduct regular workflow analyses using data and staff feedback to reduce inefficiencies and enhance patient and staff satisfactionUtilize process improvement methodologies to evaluate current processes and implement new or improved processesEvaluate and realign staff responsibilities for RNs, LPNs, and MAs to ensure effective team-based care and optimize scope of practice3. Staff SupervisionDirect supervision of the Nursing Supervisor, RNs, LPNs, and MAsAssist Health Services Manager with physician timecard approvalsPromote a high-performance, collaborative, and respectful workplace cultureManage recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance evaluationsSupport professional development and lead training/cross-training for clinical staffIn collaboration with HR, lead corrective action processes and manage grievances when necessaryReview, analyze, and abide by applicable collective bargaining agreements impacting clinical staff4. Quality, Compliance & Patient SafetyEnsure adherence to collective bargaining agreements, OSHA, CDC, IDPH, HIPAA, and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) standardsOversee implementation and monitoring of infection control policies, including room cleanliness, hand hygiene, equipment disinfection, vaccine storage protocols, etc.Maintain readiness for regulatory inspections and audits and lead the clinical response to deficienciesCollect, analyze, and act on quality and safety data (e.g., patient incidents, missed documentation, care gaps)Develop, track and report key performance indicators for nursing5. StrategyCollaborate with leadership to execute clinic-wide strategic initiatives, including care delivery redesign, process improvements, and risk reductionPartner with the senior leadership team, physicians, and supervisors to streamline clinic operationsServe as a change agent for organizational goals, helping frontline teams adapt to new systems or processes6. Resource & Supply OversightManage medical equipment and clinic supply inventory and functionMonitor staff use of PPE, point-of-care testing, etc. to promote stewardship of use Required QualificationsCurrent RN Illinois licenseBachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or Healthcare Administration preferredMinimum 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 3 years of leadership experience in an ambulatory or outpatient settingMinimum 3 years of supervisory or nurse management experienceProficiency in EMR systemsStrong knowledge of outpatient care regulations and nursing scopes of practiceExcellent communication and team building skills Preferred ExperienceFamiliarity with PDSA, Six Sigma, or other performance improvement methodologiesExperience in unionized environments Company DescriptionWe are described as many things, such as a Voluntary Health Services Plans Corporation; a multi-specialty medical group; a not-for-profit health plan; or a staff-model managed care plan. Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
