The Electrician, under limited supervision, performs skilled installation, preventive maintenance, repair and modification of electrical systems and equipment in a wide variety of County facilities. Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, and equipment. Performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, painting, HVAC as needed. Enhances facilities and organizations reputation by accepting ownership of new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.  Customer Service is of the utmost importance.   
Provides electrical power by maintaining electrical equipment and outlets; including energy management system for lighting, security, and HVAC.

Wires work station cubicles by studying blueprints; laying-out circuitry for common and dedicated electrical outlets; providing raceways for telephone communications.

Provides lighting by maintaining electrical lighting fixtures.

Provides engineering support by responding to requests for mechanical and electrical problems.

Complies with codes by adhering to requirements; advising senior management on needed actions.

Maintains supplies inventory by checking electrical material stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for electrical material; and reviewing and approving invoices.

Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

Updates mechanical engineering job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Enhances facilities services and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: 

High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED), and four (4) years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.   


Licenses or Certifications: 

CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.   Must have a valid Driver's License and maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy. 

 

Special Requirements:  

Must be able to work flexible hours and weekend rotations.

 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires the ability to maintain body equilibrium when bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, reaching and/or stretching arms, legs or other parts of body to grasp, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical requirements are for Heavy Work.

Salary : $57,203 - $85,805
