Salary Range: $39,621 – $47,541 (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Position Summary
Union County is seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance III employee to perform a wide range of routine and skilled maintenance tasks. This position includes responsibilities in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repair and maintenance, as well as providing leadership and technical guidance to subordinate maintenance staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, guidance, and instruction to subordinate maintenance staff; coordinates and monitors work activities and inspects completed work.
- Receives work orders, prioritizes daily schedules, maintains records, and gathers necessary tools and materials.
- Performs routine and skilled plumbing work, including troubleshooting systems, repairing leaks, unclogging fixtures, and performing preventative maintenance.
- Performs carpentry duties such as hanging doors, installing hardware, repairing drywall and plaster, and repairing or replacing windows and frames.
- Conducts skilled HVAC maintenance and repair, including inspections, troubleshooting minor mechanical or electrical issues, calibrating thermostats, and changing filters.
- Performs skilled electrical maintenance, repairing and replacing defective electrical and electronic components.
- Completes additional maintenance tasks such as grounds maintenance, sidewalk maintenance, delivery of supplies, and disposal of scrap materials.
- Maintains assigned vehicles and tools and reports maintenance needs to supervisors.
- Communicates effectively with supervisors, County employees, the public, and outside technicians to coordinate work and resolve issues.
Minimum Qualifications
- Vocational or technical school training in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC, plus three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in building maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Successful completion of a drug and alcohol screening.
- Successful completion of a reference check.
Employment is contingent upon meeting all pre-employment requirements.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to perform moderate physical labor, including lifting up to 25–50 pounds, climbing, kneeling, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
- Work may involve exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as temperature extremes, dust, fumes, noise, hazardous materials, and electrical hazards.
