DESCRIPTION
The Union County Common Pleas Judge is now hiring a Specialized Docket Case Manager. As a Case Manager, you'll work under the general direction of the Director of Specialized Dockets, providing essential case management services to participants in our specialized dockets. You'll help individuals access behavioral health assessments, connect with community resources, and stay on track with treatment and recovery goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Linking participants with behavioral health and community support services
- Coordinating care with treatment providers, probation officers, and correctional facilities
- Providing monitoring, advocacy, counseling, and crisis intervention
- Assisting with daily living needs and medication supervision
- Supporting participants from diverse backgrounds, including those with criminal justice involvement, substance use disorders, and mental health conditions
QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, criminal justice, counseling or related field; Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA); two or more years of related experience in substance use treatment, case management, probation or related field strongly preferred.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be a licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA); must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain insurability under the County’s vehicle insurance policy; ORAS certified or the ability to become certified within six (6) months of employment. Must also be capable of satisfying a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation.

Personal computer, applicable computer software, printer, copy machine, fax machine, receipt printer, and other standard office equipment, drug testing equipment.
INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS: The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); is exposed to possible injury due to unclean or unsanitary conditions; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; has exposure to hazardous driving conditions; has exposure to life threatening situations; has exposure to needles and other drug paraphernalia; has exposure to Hepatitis C; has to work irregular hours.
Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered sedentary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(1) Submits referrals to local treatment agencies for substance use treatment assessments, medication assisted treatment assessments, mental health assessments, domestic violence classes, anger management classes, and driver intervention programs. Transports participants from jail to probation, treatment agency appointments, residential treatment, job interviews, employment services, education services, government services, pantry services, community service and assist with community service projects/observation.
(2) Supports relapse prevention and crisis intervention when necessary. Serves as a liaison between the specialized docket and treatment providers. Maintains frequent contact with participants through office visits, phone calls, home visits, and court sessions. Attends weekly staffing and court hearings for all specialized dockets. Prepares written and verbal reports for team staffing meetings and court hearings. Participates in discussions regarding incentives, sanctions, phase advancement, successful completion, and termination, as well as recommendations regarding treatment.
(3) Performs substance use assessments under clinical supervision of the Director of Specialized Dockets. Performs other administrative functions as designated by the Director of Specialized Dockets.
4) Assists probation officers with conducting urine and/or alcohol testing to ensure compliance with court orders.
(5) Maintains required licensures, certification, and continuing education requirements, if any.
(6) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions; observes/collects drug screens as necessary.
(7) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
