Job Description

Union County is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance III / HVAC Technician to join our Facilities team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining County buildings and systems by performing HVAC installation, repair, and preventive maintenance, as well as a variety of skilled maintenance tasks involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building upkeep.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions and complete necessary repairs.
  • Calibrate thermostatic controls and replace filters and components as needed.
  • Perform plumbing repairs and maintenance, including troubleshooting and repairing leaks, fixtures, and water systems.
  • Complete carpentry projects such as door and window repairs, drywall repair, and hardware installation.
  • Perform electrical maintenance and repair of motors, pumps, switches, controllers, and related equipment.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and assigned vehicles.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance records, and related documentation.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance, deliveries, and other facility-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Vocational or technical school training in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or a related field.
  • Experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or building maintenance.
  • Three years of equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • Universal EPA Certification.
  • Certification in Tracer Summit System Operations (or the ability to obtain and maintain certification).

Physical and Environmental Requirements

This position requires moderate physical activity, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, heights, confined spaces, electrical systems, machinery, and other environmental hazards commonly associated with facility maintenance work.
