Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments by monitoring vital signs, conducting physical examinations, and evaluating patient conditions to inform care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols, including IV infusions and medication management.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheterization, suturing, specimen collection, and sterile processing to support clinical needs.
- Provide specialized care for patients with complex conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or those requiring memory or hospice care.
- Support emergency and acute care situations by managing airway management, ventilator support, first aid, and acute pain management.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and patient education to promote optimal recovery outcomes.
Skills
- Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal or developmental disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and long-term care regulations.
- Skilled in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation and patient record management.
- Competent in performing clinical procedures including venipuncture, phlebotomy, tube feeding, catheter care, and sterile techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for caregiver interaction and client education while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA policies.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments such as ICU settings, emergency rooms (ER), Level I & II trauma centers or surgical units like ORs.
- Experience in infection control practices and managing infectious disease cases with adherence to safety protocols.
