Site Manager – Chester, NY Distribution Yard

Unilock is seeking an experienced hands-on Site Manager to oversee daily operations at our concrete paving stone distribution yard in Chester, NY. This role is responsible for managing yard activities, ensuring safe and efficient product handling, maintaining inventory accuracy, and delivering exceptional service to customers and contractors. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with operational expertise in a fast-paced, outdoor industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all day-to-day yard operations, including receiving, storage, staging, and shipping of concrete products
• Ensure efficient loading and unloading of materials using forklifts and other heavy equipment
• Coordinate deliveries, pickups, and order staging to meet customer timelines and company standards
• Maintain yard organization, cleanliness, and optimal product flow

• Supervise, train, and develop yard personnel, and support staff
• Schedule shifts and allocating resources based on operational needs
• Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
• Conduct performance reviews and address employee relations matters as needed

• Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (OSHA compliance)
• Conduct regular safety inspections, toolbox talks, and incident investigations

• Manage inventory levels, cycle counts, and reconciliation processes
• Ensure product quality standards are met and damaged goods are properly handled
• Collaborate with production and logistics teams to maintain accurate stock levels

• Maintain internal controls and related documentation to ensure accurate customer billing and compliance with company policies and procedures

• Provide a high level of service to contractors, dealers, and walk-in customers
• Resolve customer concerns and ensure timely, accurate order fulfillment
• Support sales efforts by maintaining product knowledge and availability

• Oversee maintenance and safe operation of forklifts, loaders, and yard equipment
• Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance schedules
• Ensure facility security and compliance with company standards

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in yard, or distribution operations (construction materials or hardscape industry preferred)
• 2 years of supervisory or management experience
• Strong knowledge of material handling equipment (forklift certification preferred)
• Working knowledge of safety regulations and OSHA standards
• Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, outdoor environment
• Exceptional customer service skills are required. 
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Strong computer skills (inventory systems, Microsoft Office)

• Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and equipment operation
