What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of Asset Management & Investments position at Unilev Capital?
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a highly capable commercial real estate professional to join a Beverly Hills and Houston-based family office managing a diversified portfolio of retail, industrial, and office assets. This is a full-time, in-person role at the Beverly Hills office, reporting directly to the Principal with meaningful exposure to strategy and decision-making across the portfolio.
The company is in an active period of portfolio repositioning — selectively divesting certain retail holdings and executing 1031 exchanges into well-located retail and industrial assets with more durable cash flow. The Vice President of Asset Management & Investments will lead this transition alongside the Principal. The ideal candidate is hands-on, financially fluent, and comfortable operating across all functions in a lean family-office environment.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Portfolio Repositioning & Acquisitions
• Lead retail dispositions and 1031 exchange reinvestment, managing the end-to-end process including timelines, qualified intermediary coordination, and replacement property identification.
• Identify, underwrite, and close acquisition opportunities in well-located retail and industrial assets; leverage broker and principal relationships to source on- and off-market deals.
• Prepare investment analyses including cash flow modeling, market research, due diligence review, and present investment recommendations to the Principal.
Asset Management & Reporting
• Oversee day-to-day asset management across retail, industrial, and office properties; monitor performance against budgets, business plans, and underwriting assumptions.
• Work with property managers on annual budgets, forecasts, CAM reconciliations, and operating expenses; review monthly and quarterly reports with the Principal.
• Track loan terms and covenant compliance; assist with refinancing, modifications, and new debt as needed.
Leasing & Tenant Management
• Coordinate with leasing brokers on strategy, deal economics, and negotiations; underwrite lease proposals, LOIs, and abstracts; oversee execution, renewals, and amendments.
• Monitor tenant performance, credit exposure, and delinquencies; manage workout situations and CAM billings.
Capital Projects & Strategic Initiatives
• Manage capital improvement projects, TIs, and building upgrades; review budgets, schedules, and draw requests.
• Conduct market research, improve internal processes and reporting systems, and serve as a general problem-solver across the platform.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, or Finance; MBA a plus.
• 10 years in commercial real estate asset management, acquisitions, or investment management.
• Hands-on acquisition experience in retail and/or industrial asset classes; established relationships with investment sales brokers and principals in target markets are beneficial.
• Advanced Excel and ARGUS modeling; proficiency in Yardi Voyager and CoStar/LoopNet; AI-assisted workflow experience a plus.
• 1031 exchange experience preferred: timeline management, qualified intermediary coordination, and replacement property identification.
• Strong written and verbal communication; high professionalism, discretion, and accountability.
• Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable in a lean-team environment with occasional domestic travel.
COMPENSATION
Base salary commensurate with experience. Total compensation may include performance bonus and long-term incentives. A comprehensive benefits package will be discussed as part of the offer.
