Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Work Model: Typically 2-3 days per week in office, with some weeks requiring additional in-office presence
About the Role:
The Equipment Specialist is responsible for overseeing UniGroup’s owned and leased trailer fleet, ensuring assets are maintained, compliant, and available to support operational needs. This role manages day-to-day fleet maintenance activities while also supporting longer-term planning through data analysis, budgeting, and lifecycle decision-making.
You will work closely with load planners, managers, vendors, and operational partners to ensure trailers are safe, cost-effective, and deployed where they are needed most. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys ownership, organization, and using data to drive practical decisions in a logistics environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs, schedule repairs, and respond to maintenance issues to ensure safe and efficient fleet operations
- Manage fleet maintenance costs, analyze maintenance data, and make financial decisions within department guidelines
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements, including inspections, insurance, and required documentation
- Manage vendor relationships and support the purchase, lease, or disposal of trailers
- Maintain accurate records across UniGroup systems, reconciling the fixed asset register with physical counts
- Analyze fleet data to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize asset utilization, and support strategic decisions around purchasing, leasing, and retirement
- Coordinate with operational partners to ensure trailers are available across assigned regions, including managing rentals when needed
- Generate reports related to maintenance, asset performance, and fleet utilization
- Support continuity of information across operational and accounting systems
- Handle additional tasks as needed to support the department

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience
- 2–3 years of relevant work experience
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience in transportation, logistics, fleet operations, or asset management
- Strong Excel skills, including working with spreadsheets and formulas
- Comfort analyzing data to support cost control and operational decision-making
- Experience tracking assets, costs, or maintenance schedules
- Ability to learn financial concepts related to depreciation and asset lifecycle planning
