Position Overview
At Unified Door & Hardware Group (UDHG), Laborer is responsible for supporting packaging and shipping operations within the Port Washington Manufacturing Plant. This role ensures accurate preparation, inspection, packaging, and shipment of finished products to meet customer expectations and operational deadlines. The position plays a key role in maintaining quality standards, inventory accuracy, and efficient material handling within the facility.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Key Responsibilities Shipping & Packaging Operations- Assemble wooden crates and cardboard containers using power tools and preassembled packaging materials to fulfill customer orders
- Insert products into containers using spacers, fillers, and protective padding to prevent damage during transit
- Nail covers on wooden crates and secure containers using metal tape and strapping machines
- Affix shipping labels or stencil identifying shipping information on cartons using appropriate equipment
- Post weights, calculate shipping charges, and affix postage as required
- Examine shipment contents and compare against manifests, invoices, and orders to verify accuracy
- Unpack and inspect incoming shipments; document and report damaged or missing items
- Correspond with shippers to resolve damages and shortages
- Route materials and products to appropriate departments
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- Operate forklifts or hand trucks to move, convey, or hoist shipments between shipping/receiving platforms, storage areas, and production workstations (as certified)
- Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing and corporate objectives
- Working knowledge of common power tools such as hammers, saws, drills, and wrenches
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Basic math skills for calculating weights and shipping charges
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, bend, and reach frequently throughout the shift
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification)
- Knowledge of shipping and packing procedures
- Familiarity with supply chain processes and ERP systems
Compensation and Benefits
Reports ToDirector of Manufacturing CompensationThe listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.- Base: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
- Total Compensation (Base): The successful candidate could reasonably expect a total compensation package in the range of $41,600 - $47,840
