What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Cook position at Unified Care Systems?
We are seeking a dependable, team-oriented Full-Time Cook to join our residential care team. This role supports individuals in a behavioral health setting by preparing nutritious meals that meet health regulations and individual dietary needs.
While this is a cook position, we work as a team. No one on our shifts is an island. Kitchen staff collaborate closely with direct care staff and leadership and must be willing to both rely on and support their team as needed.
Required Training (Before Independent Kitchen Work)
- 40 hours of onsite training
- Therapeutic Options training
- Challenging Behaviors training
- Behavior Support training
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare meals according to company standards and resident care plans
- Follow WAC and Health District guidelines to ensure food safety and prevent cross-contamination
- Manage food and supply inventory
- Post and maintain menus, including changes
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, equipment, and required logs
- Meet special dietary needs (allergies, vegetarian, texture-modified diets, etc.)
- Proper food storage, labeling, and temperature control
- Assist with meal service, cleanup, and sanitation
- Communicate concerns and updates with the Resident Services Manager
Qualifications
- Valid Food Safety Card
- Kitchen or food service experience
- Ability to safely use kitchen equipment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, bend, and work on your feet for extended periods
- Reliable attendance and ability to work 12-hour shifts
