Requirements and Description
Responsibilities:
- Collects and gathers wheelchairs that are stored and spread throughout the airport concourses.
- Returns wheelchairs to the staging area for usage.
- Assists and transports passengers to/from gate as needed.
- Carefully lifts special needs passengers up/down stairs of aircraft and in/out of wheelchairs in a safe manner.
- Reads appropriate paperwork to identify name, flight information, date and special service request details to ensure special needs passengers are taken to the correct destination.
- Assists special needs passengers in transporting and claiming personal belongings and baggage.
- Reads the airport monitors to check arriving and departing information and sets up gate for incoming passengers who need special assistance.
- Greets and escorts special needs passengers in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Uses PAXTrack system to report pick up and drop off of special needs passengers.
- Communicates instructions and special services to gate agent or other personnel for passengers requiring special needs.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Have the flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Must be able to lift/carry / push/pull and move items of 70 pounds and/or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift weights of 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces.
- Must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
- Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security.
