What are the responsibilities and job description for the Management Trainee position at Unifi?
The Management Trainee is responsible for becoming knowledgeable of all plant processes, including textile manufacturing operations, maintenance, quality, continuous improvement, and engineering. The focus will be on providing support at the plant level in the improvement and expansion of existing products, processes, and technology. The Management Trainee will primarily work in the POY Spinning Extrusion facility.
How Will You Play an Integral Role?
- Develop an intimate knowledge of processes, equipment and systems related to filament fiber production.
- Provide technical solutions for performance, cost, or quality improvement of existing product processes, both internally and at our customers’ facilities, using methodical experimental design and process improvement methods.
- Monitor product performance metrics and ensure process capabilities are met with each production run; respond with technical guidance on any out-of-control condition.
- Provide support internally for the Manufacturing and Quality Assurance groups, as well as for downstream processes. Use expertise to explore and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain relationships with production and technical staff, providing guidance and gaining awareness of problems or opportunities for improvement.
- Transition new product developments into commercial processes that provide innovative solutions for customers in the textile industry.

Are You Qualified?
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physical science degree, with a particular interest in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, textile engineering, textile technology, polymer and color chemistry, or general chemistry, is preferred. Comparable and extensive experience in textile production, product development, dyes and chemicals, filament fiber production will be considered.
- Recent graduate or soon to be graduate as of May 2027 -no prior manufacturing experience is required, but a previous manufacturing internship or co-op is a plus
- Microsoft Office experience, including strong proficiency in Excel
- Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred
