Job Summary:

The GSE Travel Technician is a highly skilled maintenance professional responsible for providing onsite technical support, diagnostics, and repairs at multiple Unifi stations across the network. This role requires advanced mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills, strong independence, and the ability to adapt quickly to different operational environments.


Travel Technicians support stations experiencing staff shortages, high equipment demand, special projects, audits, or complex repair needs. They serve as technical ambassadors for the GSE organization, ensuring equipment reliability, safety compliance, and consistent maintenance standards across all locations.


This position is ideal for experienced technicians who excel in dynamic environments and enjoy mentoring others while representing Unifi's maintenance culture at the highest level.
$38.00 - $42.00 / hr

Job Duties:

Technical Support & Advanced Repairs:

Represent our team culture that empowers employees to succeed through our leadership engagement and company support.

Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems across all GSE types.

Respond to station requests for high priority or complex repairs requiring senior level expertise.

Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on repeat failures and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability.

Support stations during peak operational periods, equipment outages, or special projects.

Ensure all repairs meet OEM specifications and comply with Unifi,EPA,and OSHA,regulatory standards.


Travel & Station Support:

Travel to assigned stations across the network based on operational needs, sometimes on short notice.

Adapt to varying shop environments, equipment conditions, and station workflows.

Provide temporary coverage for stations experiencing staffing shortages or increased workload.

Assist with station startups, fleet transitions, audits, and equipment inspections.

Represent Unifi's maintenance standards and culture at every location.


Documentation & Compliance:

Document all work performed using the company's CMMS (AssetWorks) following CCC standards.

Ensure accurate reporting of parts usage, labor hours, and repair details.

Conduct safety inspections and verify equipment meets regulatory and operational requirements.

Support stations in improving documentation accuracy and compliance.


Training, Mentoring & Continuous Improvement:

Provide on-the-job training and technical guidance to Technician I, II, and III employees at supported stations.

Demonstrate proper repair techniques, diagnostic methods, and safe work practices.

Assisting stations in improving PM compliance, shop organization, and tool control.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Three (3) to Five (5 ) years of experience in GSE maintenance required.

Provides all needed hand tools. Company provides specialty tooling.

Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.

Strong proficiency with diagnostic tools including multimeters, scan tools, pressure gauges, and electrical testing equipment.

Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, hydraulic schematics, and OEM technical manuals.

Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor technicians at all levels.

Must be able to travel frequently, including overnight stays.

Must be 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.

Must be able to pass required background checks and drug screening.

Valid driver's license required.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.


Working Conditions:

Frequent travel required, (over 80%), including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Work performed in both indoor shop environments and outdoor ramp areas.

Exposure to weather conditions including rain, snow, heat, and cold.

Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, aircraft, vehicles, fumes, and loud noise.

Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.

Work pace varies and is often fast paced with tight time constraints.
