Job Summary
The Substitute School Nurse provides professional nursing services to students and staff. The primary role is to ensure the health and safety of the school community by administering care, managing health records, and responding to medical needs in the absence of the regular school nurse.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and provide basic health care to students, including first aid for injuries and illnesses.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and parental consent.
Maintain accurate and confidential health records.
Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate with appropriate personnel, parents, or guardians.
Collaborate with school staff and health centers as needed to ensure continuity of care.
Provide health education and counseling to students and families.
Participate in school health-related activities and perform health screenings as directed.
Qualifications
Must have a current, valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Massachusetts.
Current certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Experience in school nursing or a related field is preferred.
